Colon cancer mostly originate from a benign tumors known as adenomatous polyps, which grows on the inner lining of colon.
If colon polyps are not treated on time, these benign tumors may grow into malignant tumours and initiate cancer.

Persistent urge to defecate/ irritable bowel syndrome
DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT
Colonoscopy is the most helpful diagnosis to look for any abnormalities or deformities on the inner lining of colon and rectum. In this procedure, a thin flexible cable called colonoscope is inserted through the colon to find presence of any polyp, tumor, ulcer or inflammation. Sample can also be collected during this procedure, called biopsy, to proceed for further treatment. Colonoscopy can also detect cancerous growth in rectum and colon.
We, at Varanasi Hospital, provide extensive diagnosis, care and treatment for colon polyps and cancer. Several patients come at Varanasi Hospital round the year and get a better life.
WHAT IS RECTUM?
Rectum is the connecting organ between colon and anus. It ends in an expanded portion known as rectal ampulla, where the feces are stored until it released through anal canal.
WHAT IS RECTAL PROLAPSE?
Rectal prolapse is a medical condition in which the rectum gets detached from the body and protrudes out of the anus. Though it does not possess any serious medical emergency, but it significantly affects the patient’s quality of life.
WHAT IS RECTOPEXY?
Rectopexy is the most effective treatment to cure rectal prolapse. A person suffering from rectal prolapse may have several symptoms such as change in bowel movements, mucus discharge, rectal bleeding and fecal incontinence. This medical condition arises due to weakened structure of rectum and its surrounding tissues.
At Varanasi Hospital, laparoscopic rectopexy is extensively performed to fix this disease. In this process, the rectum is placed back to its place and a mesh is placed to ensure its recurrence does not happen.
